To My Sis

Dear Gracie,

I'm your big sister, and your my little sister.

What does that even mean?

You're taller than me, stronger than me, frankly,

I'm the little sister in every sense of the word.

I guess they always called me "big sister"

because you were supposed to look up to me.

Mom says you always have, but I've never seen it that way

I look up to you

I cherish and admire you, and without you,

I wouldn't be someone to look up to.

I'm strong because I want to deserve to be looked up to,

Because no one will ever see that I'm just the scared little girl

You're strong and so sure of yourself

How can that be me?

A leader learns to lead by first following

I am a leader today because I have followed and looked up to you

I no longer cower in being the one to follow

I take pride in being me because of you

There isn't "big" and "little" here,

We are simply sisters

Stronger we are, because of each other,

Thank you sis,

Thank you bestfriend

Thank you leader
