For My Sister

They say a dog is man's best friend
And in many respects, that's true.
But I can't sit here and pretend
That my best friend isn't you.

I see these siblings everyday
Screaming in each other's faces.
Yet you and I would always play,
And travel to new places.

The trust we share could never be
The same with anyone else
You seem to know every detail about me,
Even more than I know myself.

Long walks on a sunny day
With our dog tagging along,
Nothing is off limits to say;
We'll even break out in song!

Not only are we sisters
But you're also my closest teammate;
Putting band aids on each other's blisters,
Pep-talks when we don't feel great.

When you cry, I dry your tears
And you stop mine as well
We always share our biggest fears,
And we scarcely ever yell.

No one ever seems to understand
The love between you and I
Our relationship is just that grand;
They shouldn't even try.
