My Sister

Thu, 04/04/2019 - 05:09 -- JGVM

I thought you were doing fine, I didn’t know what was wrong,

I thought you'd push through it, that you were invincibly strong,

As a friend I should have supported you, helped you along the way,

As a sister I should have protected you, now you are the one to pay,

I didn’t want to play with you when you were young and small,

I'd run away and hide, but after me you'd crawl,

You were always a little grinner, despite the circumstance,

I should've told you I loved you, before I lost my chance,

Look what I've done now, you are lying here so still,

What was running through your mind, when you took that final pill,

In the hospital we are sitting, everyone is crying,

While you are laying there, we're praying you aren't dying,

Everyone's always adored you, you are a perfect angel,

You are so kind and sweet, always been so gentle,

I wonder when it started, if it's been going on long,

If you let it take over, or resisted and was strong,

You always wore a smile, whether sun or clouds or rain,

But what if it was fake, a mask to hide the pain,

I remember you once saying, "I can't wait to be grown up!"

But now it may not ever happen, if you don’t try wake up,

Look what I've done now, you are lying here so still,

What was running through your mind, when you took that final pill,

In the hospital we are sitting, everyone is crying,

While you are laying there, we're praying you aren't dying,

The doctor says you can make it through, but you still haven't awoke,

You need to wake up soon, trust me this is not a joke,

So many people die, every single day,

Please don’t add to the list, please, my sister, stay,

None of us have slept, the last couple of days,

We need you to come back, we promise to love you, always,

They say you're getting worse, please my sister, don’t die,

The doctors are starting to tell us, to say our last goodbye,

Look what I've done now, you are lying here so still,

What was running through your mind, when you took that final pill,

In the hospital, we are sitting, struggling to cope,

Please, my sister, hurry, we're starting to lose hope,
