My Sister, in Heart

I wanted to do something extra special

to express how important you are to me.

A card didn’t seem to do it

So, a poem from heart, it will be.

I can never repay you

for all the love and encouragement

you’ve given me over the years.

You’ve shared in my joyous times.

When I hurt, you wiped away my tears.

At times when I felt discouraged,

you always seemed to know what to say.

To uplift my spirits, to make me smile

to let me know everything would be ok.

I’ve adopted you as my sister

into my heart and mind.

I’ve come to realize

a good friend like you is hard to find.

I thank God each day

for allowing us to meet.

Although life has sometimes been hard,

your friendship somehow made it so sweet.

In my future, for the rest of my life

I pray that you will always be a part.

For you’re not just a dear friend to me

but my sister, in heart.
