My Sister's Masterpiece

It does not match the color on my walls.

It does not even have a frame.

I cannnot tell if she gave it to me out of love,

or if she was just too lazy to throw it away.

Either way, I took it.

How could I not?

It now lays on my dresser, forgotten and rarely looked upon.

When I leave, it will collect dust in the attic.

I could have just said no.

But I could see the unwavering pride in her eyes

as she presented her masterpiece,

done in charcoal and purple watercolor.

It made her happy,

and even happier to set it free.

She does not know that one day,

it will be worth a millioin.

Even if only to me.
