My Skin
My Skin
From the sound of my voice
The color of my skin
The dips of my hips
And the role you fit me in
i laugh despite the tears
And I allow myself to go there
Holding in the anger
The restlessness
The sheer feeling of hopelessness
Only a shell
But you tell me I’m human
I can no longer stand
The focus I once had is bland
You change who I am
From the sound of my voice
The color of my skin
The dips of my hips
And the box I left myself in
Emotions are too kind
You will get left behind
I am your bad guy
That plays the victim every time
I say I’m not like you
But I’m one of you
From the sound of my voice
The color of my skin
The dips of my hips
And the invisible person I seem to be
It not your fault
That the cries of my voice
The scars that make skin
The fat on my hips
Is the only thing holding me in place?
It’s never safe
It can cave in
The cage I have built
The waiting list I seem to be stuck on
The life that I hate seems to go on
From the cries of my skin
The scars of my hips
The color of my voice
And the brokenness of this
