my something in the grand scheme of nothing

I waited. I waited. I waited.

for something. for anything. for a sign.

I was unsure. I couldn't risk it.

but you showed me what I hoped for. what I thought I needed. what I knew I wanted.

I had hope. a chance. a possibility.

but it was nothing.

it happened. a temptation. a secret.

shared only by the touching of lips.

our lips. our skin. our moment.

but it is gone.

I let it slip. you let it fall.

it meant nothing.

we were nothing.

a happening. an incident. a secret.

it will not happen again.

but what is so sweet about a weak secret

dripping from our lips?

shared only by two.

shared only through whispers and breaths.

shared only by the closeness of that moment.

our moment. our night. our secret.

but now

we are nothing.
