"To My Special Autistic Son"

Dedicated to my autistic son, Jared

You are my special autistic son

Who lights up my life like no other.

Life with you is so much fun,

And I am so proud to be your Mother.

I have learned so much from you

As I have learned to enter your world.

I love having fun with you, too

As we enter your world unfurled.

There is nothing better than being your Mother,

Because you give me the will to keep living.

Because of my health, I could not give you a sister or brother,

But even despite that, there is nothing missing.

I love you with all my being,

And I cannot wait to see

Your independence eventually increasing

And allowing you to take the lead.

You will be a man in a few short years,

And I look forward to supporting

Your chosen life path as well as your career.

You can count on my confidence that you will choose something rewarding.
