My Story
When they tell our story,
I hope they mention
I couldn't even walk down the street
Lace up my Jordan's
Walk outside with my hoodie up
We are dangerous!
“Suspicious activity around the neighborhood”
Trayvon!
“There are children in the house”
7 yr old female African American shot
Was she in the wrong for sleeping in her home?
4054 Lillibridge
The home she thought was safe
Her mom will never hear Aiyana say momma again
Her grandma will never be able to hold her again
It happened in seconds,
Six
Bow!
Praying to stay upright, pleading to stay alive
To feel the warm embrace of the sun another day
Watching all our parents cry
Tears overflowing their faces
Watching all my brothers dropping,
Cold
3 yrs later and Ferguson still won't change
Riots plaguing the cites
Rubber bullets and searing pains
“senseless violent riots”
150 shots
And more of us are falling
No more peaceful protesting because it isn't working
Hands up don't shoot
White man,
Won't shoot
Akai Gurley
I didn't tell him not to walk where he couldn't be seen
Nobody told him that the dark would be the death of him
Patrolling with their gun drawn
Officer Liang sentenced to probation
Manslaughter mistaken for negligent homicide
I stand above everyone hating the pain
The pain put upon my loved ones
The ones in the streets trying to save other like me
Making police pay
They are standing up for us
Black Lives Matter
But do white lives matter more?
No charges
Probation and paid leave isn't enough
What about me?
Nobody told me I would be in danger for walking home
Nobody told me to stay in the house
I went to the store
I was followed
Was I wrong for defending myself?
Bow
“help..”
But nobody helped me
