My story
Ever since I was a young girl I dreamed about becoming a nurse. I loved to serve tea from my tea set whenever my family had a cold. Of course someone had to make the tea for me because I was about six years old far as I can remember. I even began dressing wounds at a early age. My dad had pet squirrels and they would often bite his fingers when he feed them in the back yard. He would call me out to the yard to apply anti-bacterial cream and bandage him up. He knew how much I wanted to become a nurse , so he was preparing me in his own way. When I was 15 years old I developed acid reflux from eating unhealthy. I can remember myself not being able to eat so my parents took me to a nearby clinic. The nurse calmed me down and assured everything would be alright. I immediately felt somewhat better because I believed in this professional nurse. She told me to drink lots of Gatorade because I needed potassium and electrolytes. She asked me lots of questions to get down to the problem. She found out that I had waste build up from a unhealthy diet. She prescribed me some anti-acids so I can take while my throat was healing and I also changed my diet. To this day I feel like I am a healthy strong person. The nurse taught me to never give up even though I feelt bad. Every time I see someone in pain or sick I always tell them my story. It really does something to the mind to know that you are not alone and nurses are here to help in any way. Rather is physical or emotional help nurses dedicate there time to making you feel better. It even makes me feel good to know I made someone hope by easing there pain. When my dad hurt his back one day working on a roof I would massage his sore muscles. I learned that touching and comforting people eases pain. I am 20 now and I attend Mississippi gulf coast community college in Gautier. I’m so excited about starting nursing level one next fall. Right now I’m taking pre nursing classes and i am determined to succeed in every class I take. The sciences for prenursing are tough but I feel like this is my future and I want let obstacles stand in my way. My dad is the soul support in our house because my mom doesn’t work. I had to work and save to buy me a car to get to school. I know It almost impossible to work with all five of my required classes so I decided to get a in school job on campus. We get paid every month and that should be enough for some of my bills. No matter what I will never quit.
