My Story Begins

Family
My family is a cult
4 Grandparents, 6 cousins, 2 aunts and 2 uncles live in my town
As a child, Mondays were spent at Mammies
Playing pickle and eating pasta and toast
Monthly Sunday dinners to celebrate birthday and anniversaries
Every holiday we have traditions that cannot be altered
Gram, is my northern star who is always shinning bright
I am proud to be part of the Macrina clan

Academics
School was always a challenge
Letters got tangled up in my brain
14 years of testing, specialists and tutors
Diagnosed with dyslexia and auditory processing

Soccer
My obsession started at age 8
By sixth grade I played 6 days a week
Matches in every state along the east coasr
Nation finalist in 2012
Hip problem put a hault to soccer
My world crumbled beneth me

Friends
Alanna, Angelika, Alex and Kira are my crew
Shopping, long walks, Netflix, adventures and sushi dates
The chipotle emploees even know our orders
They support my crazy ideas
And even participate in my stupid ones

Nursing
Toured Boston Children Hospital Cardiac ICU
Ryker changed my world
3 months old and will never leave the hospital
His nurse treated his heart condition
While patching up his family's broken hearts
I felt a calling

Africa
Took a year off after High School
Decided to travel to East Africa
Where I volunteered to help local students, families and schools
What I did not know
Was how much that experienced helped shape me

What I've learned
Family taught me the power of immense love
Accademics pushed me to become a self advocate
Soccer demonstrated the importance of resilency
Friends showed me the power of dreaming
Nursing gave my life a direction
Africa taught me the pureness of happiness
