My Timid Heart
Your vision's warped
Is what they said
I said that cannot be
For the perfect size a girl should be?
A tiny little three
The pressure's built
A house of guilt
Down in my timid heart
Release that guilt they said;
So I left my pain in Art
Come to me
Is what he said
Let me be your host
Of better days and happiness,
Or you'll surely be a ghost
For hours I worked
Alone with him
In and out of class
Until one day Art turned rough
And shattered me like glass
I cried and moaned
Please stop, my dear
I'm dying from the pain
He said to me
Just hush, my dear
Your cries are all in vain
We lay in silence
Taking in
The busy world around
Then suddenly he spoke;
And what a scary sound!
My dear you mustn't care
About your days or me or you
For all I see within your eyes
Is a nasty shade of blue
You're icy cold, a horrid witch
Whose pain she thrusts on all
My dear I cannot handle you
You're much too frail and small
With that I wept
Oh how I wept!
For my love for Art was strong
How could I be so careless?
And treat my love so wrong
I begged and pleaded
Oh how I pleaded!
Please Art, stay here and I swear
I'll change for you my dearest Art
I promise that I'll care!
But Art said no, it could not be
His love for me had faded
At that point I began to feel
As though my heart was gated
For many years I've kept myself
Apart from many men
My timid heart has turned to stone;
My love locked in a pen
Now as I sit and spin this tale
My message should be clear:
Don't give yourself to anyone
Unless you love yourself, my dear
