My Tornado
I was young when I knew my feelings
No one took me seriously
they said I was "too young"
I believed them and hid what I felt
I tried to be "normal"
but it didn't work out.
No matter what I did
or how many guys I dated
I still felt like I was lying to everyone
especially myself.
The self torment went on for years on end
until I finally told a close friend
she accepted me and helped me get through it
then I lost her when I had to move again
We still talked but it wasn't quite the same
She was too far away,
she wasn't around to be there for me
especially when I was down.
I became depressed and still tried to be "normal"
But then I moved to a place where I was accepted
where I could be me.
No lies, no secrets
however I couldn't be me at home
School became my home
where I was accepted
No one judged me and I was free.
Then I had to move again
and my security was stripped away.
I slipped back into sadness
I became hateful towards my family
then I met someone that cared about me.
She made me smile,
she made me laugh,
I was able to be myself with her.
When she asked me to be with her,
I said yes,
and my heart swelled with joy.
She held me together when I was broken,
she was the missing part of me.
Her hair, her smile,
were imperfections to her,
but were perfect to me.
She made my tornado of emotions
finally become peace.
