My Truth

If only

it was ok to say

what I feel

aloud.

But faces turn

twisted,

confused,

afraid-

of pure unfiltered emotion.

Now my words,

written,

are my voice,

my truth,

my soul.

My heart is safe

on paper.

Presented to all

if they choose

to explore.

For I

now,

can call my love

my hurt,

my joy,

art.

It is word,

it is me,

it is my expression,

poetry.
