My Two Cents

I tried for a slam poetry kind of rhythm:

Hey Earth,

I'm sorry that you're feeling this way.

I'm sorry that we're turing you from blue to grey.

I'm sorry that I don't know what to do or say,

But hey, maybe we can start today.

My goal in life is to save you, ya know,

But I'm not sure how to do it alone.

I try so hard to recycle and clean,

But none of it's enough to keep you nice and green.

I dream of a world, where we all work together,

To keep you save, forever and ever,

But the people in charge, they don't seem to hear,

Instead filling us with lies, mistrust, and fear.

We're filling up the oceans with dirt and plastic,

And none of us seem too enthusiastic,

About planting more trees, or saving hives,

Instead we go on with the rest of our lives.

So maybe we can't save you at all,

But I'm gunna try everyday, until I fall,

Because it's what you deserve is all I'm saying,

But only together, can we stop you from greying.
