My Ugly Duckling

I sit upon my eggs

Round, spherical, warm

My posterier warms my eggs keeping my offspring safe and sound

I sit and wait for their beaks to break the thin shell

Bursting into life

One, two, three, four, five, six

Who is this?

A seventh offspring has emerged

Gray, drab, dusty, dirty, ugly

This ugly duckling could not be mine

Depressed it grew and so it flew

Away from mama, away forever

My ugly duckling was gone

Depressed I grew and so did you
