my verse

“There’s no point in saving the world if it means losing the moon” The Earth Everything that was good went quickly, The rain began to fall, With no end in sight. The weight of the world rested on me, And my knees grew weaker. Before, I sized up the world with wide eyes, Fearful but ready to conquer it all. But all that is left inside is this empty, hopeless feeling that won’t seem to fade. The mountains before me, Stand tall and proud. They tower over me, Casting an unearthly shadow. Again, I looked up doubting myself. I can’t move mountains. Valleys surround me, Too vast to bridge. A constant war goes on that sees no resolution. And the storm is brewing, No wind but the clouds are driven in. All of the things that were falling Were ready to fall, And as they did They made their thunder. I’ve fallen and crumbled too, Now in the mess of it all I’ve lost you. The Moon April 12th, my sky was lit. Something like I’ve never seen before, Your bright light engulfed me, A distant but unforgettable memory. And I understand now Why the stars adore the sky. Weightless, I stood. An unusual feeling it was to feel free, To feel happy, To feel loved. At my darkest of times, I looked to you. With open arms, And the light of a million stars, You picked me up and held me close. Your glow lit my world, Illuminated my path. I only saw you, And how nice it was To love someone standing out among the dimly lit stars. The Sun So here I stay, In the middle of two places I call home. Somehow as the world keeps turning, And the moon continues to orbit, I hold them together. Eventually, my hands start to slip, Both seem out of reach. I shine a little brighter, In hopes to find your name, To see your luminous glow, But still hold onto my other home. The fire won’t die, I won’t start to fade. I’ll shine through the darkness, I’ll bring light to the world. I’ll shine through the darkness, And no one will see the dark side of the moon.
