My Very Best

Waking up in the morning, having the same routine everyday

The only exciting thing about it is swim

Once that clock hits 4:30 I know it's time to get ready

5 o’ clock hits I put on my suit, slip on my cap, dive into the water and begin my first lap

Every lap I do relieves my stress

I flip turn here, hold my breath there

It's the smell of  chlorine

and the push off the wall.

It’s the rhythm

It’s the breathing

That makes me work harder each and everyday

From start to finish I swim my best

At the end of the day it’s sad,

Knowing that I have to wait another 24 hours to swim my very best.
