My Voice

I am young and feel as if I don't have a voice.

The things in my life I don't have a choice.

Others try to give encouragement and advice,

but how do I know the truths from lies?

I feel the need to become expressive and free

without the weight of rules and chains on me.

My voice is changing and becoming my own.

The choices I make will soon be mine alone.

Give me this time to dig deep into my soul

to find out for myself how to gain self control.

You've done your part and have done it with care.

Now give me my space and don't be scared.

I will take what you have given me to heart

as my voice transformation is soon to start.
