My Wallflower

My Wallflower

Nothing is either good or bad, but thinking makes it so

She drifts down the hallway

Along with every other body

But she is not everybody

She hears conversations of laughter and love

All of which are foreign to her

She can never feel

In reality, nothing is either good or bad,

But thinking makes it so

Thinking?... She thinks

When they laugh she laughs

When they complain she complains

Putting on a show that shames

even the finest of actors the world has ever seen

Concealed like a beautiful shell on the beach

A shell that ensnares the eyes of the pickiest

Only to prick and poison

the hand that seeks to love and treasure it

But not the foot that seeks to crush it

For she can never feel

For more than one night

Nothing is either good or bad, but thinking makes it so

What is one that thinks without emotion?

Empty, Hollow, Numb...

With a pretty mask.
