My Warning
Dark hallow space filled with toxic air
breathing out positivity but only taking in failure
I smile the most crooked smile and hold back tears
so that I don’t upset my peers
I have no right to mess up their day
because I feel stuck and slighted in mine
I’ll just hide keep quite and wait for this to pass
God I hope it pass
The more I stay in this funk the worse I feel about everything even my will to survive
I’m unraveling yet held together with sticks and glue
to put on a good face for you and you
I hope someone see the cracks and realize I’m about to break but instead they say what doesn’t kill you make you strong
That’s the most fucked up thing to say
‘Cas sometimes it makes you weak
and me I’m in pieces trying just to stay afloat
but every time it looks like my luck is changing I choke
Every set back pushes me farther into the dark
and even start to blacken my heart
my love for you is strong but my love for me fades
and once that’s gone so am I
So this is the only way I know how to send out my cries
See beyond the words written in ink on a piece of paper
and search instead for me
For this poem tells the story of why I bleed
Every drop of blood leaks from a soared over crusted scar
that looked healed but only from afar
