My Wealth is my Health

“You have lumbar instability, Your participation is limited from now on.” I had no words, I had no luck this news hit me like a truck. I thought being young meant discovering new things, and taking risks and having fun and reaching out to others who understand but life changed and it seemed to wither away like a million little strands. As a teenager I have passions one is fashion and one is compassion but the most important is volleyball. It was my escape from the world but as that world started to swirl my passion had to focus more on school. Although I had pain running all throughout my spine and I couldn’t push it away to be ‘just fine.’ I couldn’t focus I couldn’t think I couldn’t work I couldn’t do anything until physical therapy. From the beginning the simplest squat seemed impossible but as a year went by I gained strength I did every exercise I did every assignment I did everything so that all activities could be easier. and none the less life became easier. I could focus I could think I could work I could finally go to my passions. My strength became my wealth in ways I never imagined. My passion became my body I was curious and not snobby I now know I want to study human movement. If I opened the dictionary and chose a word that was not so absurd, which defined me it would be... determined.
