My Wife

I think about her often,

This future wife of mine

And wonder what she looks like

And if she sees the signs.

She loves me without question

And never lashes out

At me, when I do stupid things

That make her want to pout.

Our love is based on honesty and trust

And of course, mutual respect.

I'll believe her when she's out with friends

And not be jealous or suspect.

Because she's truthful, kind, and funny

And a perfect match for me

We will join two imperfect people

And make two "I"'s become "we".

I hope to be all she's dreamed of,

A good husband and best friend.

To grow old side by side with her -

That's what I intend.
