My Wish For You

My wish for you

Your time on Earth was undoubtedly hard;

Someone injured your wings right from the start.

Beautiful, funny, and loyal for many to enjoy;

Inside lived a sadness you didn’t know how to destroy.

God gave you someone special to help you heal;

Instead you unknowingly shared it for real.

Two bearing the burden deserved by none;

Two forced to experience it on their own.

One longed for forgiveness;

One longed to heal.

One determined to hide;

One determined to feel.

Spoken pain but never a question of love;

Rather an innate hope that you could rise above.

I didn’t abandon and I didn’t run;

I chose to embrace what I wanted to become.

To give you hope, to make you proud;

To soar much higher than any cloud.

My wish for you was really quite simple;

To live happily, peacefully, with no pain or ounce of trouble.

This world was not a place you would survive;

So, I gave you your wings and permission to fly.

It is God’s turn now to show you the way;

To those who loved you every single day.
