My World - Haiku Set

Growing up is hard.

Mountains and pitfalls galore;

But time never waits.

We children wonder,

What will be in store for us.

The future? Unknown.

Time will tell our path

We take on our journey

To becoming stars.

We are the future.

We are the light of the world,

Nurtured by parents.

Raised by family.

Strict household, not many friends.

“Too meek to be friends.”

At times I struggled

With my insecurities,

Embarrassment, shame.

A voice never heard.

A voice too shy to speak up.

A voice buried deep.

But highschool cracked me

Like an egg hatching open

To the brighter world.

All sorts of voices,

Encouraging me to join.

Am I allowed? Yes.

Scared? Not anymore.

Surrounded with friends who help,

It is tangible.

Used to be distant.

Now I am a part of that,

That world I’m in now.
