Mystery

Small town coffee shops Cigarette smoke building up in the alleyway Glancing eyes Too afraid to make eye contact Deep brown corduroys sliding into my vision Slowly raising eyes First to hands Holding a copy of some pretentious classic Trailing up to the lining of his jaw The hint of a warm 4 o'clock shadow Brains melt into a mess of sticky grey matter The mixing of wet cement Eyes are met His eyes on my back The hard sound of my beaten boots Against the cobblestones Held breathe Locked jaws Talking takes away the mystery Connect with locked eyes And pursed lips Create their biography He's a philosophy student Working at the local radio station Because everyone knows Philosophy has no stability He dreams of a life Where he scores The classic films of our time Never speak Never take away the mystery Never look back Find the next mystery Repeat
