MYSTERY MOMENTS CAN BE DIFFICULT

Mystery Moments Can Be Difficult......

Mystery moments can be difficult

The minute one tries to remember the past,

Or thinking back to yesteryear

from the days of yore,

Or are they just stuck

after one considers all those archives,

those centuries olde

births, death and marriage records,

of Censuses accounts of life back then

and Electoral Rolls of the now,

Let alone the words

inscribed on parchments,

And even etchings set in family bibles too.

For long gone are the days

When around the family table proper,

baptism of the latest one,

the nuptials celebrated with wine,

and the cask decked in wreaths

rolled into church,

Family chatter did matter and so important,

When trying to keep

a family’s genealogy up to date,

Important back then

But then again not like today

in this throwaway society,

of mindless babble in a media scrum,

so, I ask an important question,

who’s got the time to take the trouble?

In keeping all those records important,

For I know in every family tree,

it is however left to one

who thinks beyond the grave,

and the bottles of champagne,

and the birthday cake when one blows out a candle,

For every family must be accountable

Of the legacy of their past

and their future tribes,

so, to the one who sits and reads endless records

and accounts of deeds from the days of yore,

and times before,

as they unravel the time

when past mystery moments can be difficult

they are the genealogists

they are the family historians….
