Mystifying Thoughts
"Mystifying Thoughts"
Enlighten me.
Express to me knowledge that teachers haven’t laid upon me,
Encourage me to banish evil thoughts so I can make good deeds,
Elate me with wonderful memories that stretch further than elastic so when I dare to recollect….I’d be laughing
rather than crashing
into the bundle of emotions I hold within,
Just Erase what caused more flaws than sins, more worries than pretended to feel okay,
Seem okay, and scheme away how I will portray myself before I leave my house…..
“Today, I’m going to be cool,”
When indeed I’m heated,
At home I’m insecure,
But out here I’m conceited,
At home I’m slouching,
But out here I have a posture,
At home I’m another thing,
When, honest to God, I’m an impostor,
No, wait!
I take that back cuz I’m just projecting what I think about me,
But word around town is that you know just about everything,
So ask you to
Enlighten, express, encourage, elate,
Make it Easy for me to understand the world today,
Understand my country, state, city, hood and home that make me this way,
Since my surroundings are what molded me into what you see and make
Me
See why humanity is convoluted or complex,
Why it’s so hard to live
But easy to meet death
These are thoughts, many thoughts, I have yet to give rest,
But you say you have the answers, the light of the path, the golden key,
I’m more wrapped up in what’s going on out there,
When my biggest concern should be “me”
