Naive Vows
We promised our hearts for eternity.
But were naïve souls,
Not understanding our vows were empty
even before they were uttered.
Now our tongues spit heinous words,
Severing the passion, we once held dear.
Invalidating what we once thought was
truth,
Exposing the caustic emptiness within our words.
