Naked Me
You want me to be real with you ?
But you want me to be perfect don't you ?
Fine , lets be real . I won't fake it
In order to do that... I have to get naked
See , not in the sense that you might think
But a type that will leave you at the edge of your seat
I have so many layers where could I begin ?
Let me start with taking off the layer my insecurities are in
That's just a jacket . Can't you tell ? It goes all the way to my shoes
I'm not complaining , I'm not singing the blues
Listen , let me rip of my shirt filled with fears . Some people would end up the tears
Let me take off these red bottom shoes
Wouldn't that leave you searching for clues?
Let me rip off my pants and unleash my doubts
But you didn't hear that from my mouth
Let me take out the 18" Weave that reveals my shoulder length hair
No I couldn't dare !
But wait let me wipe of my mascara , lipstick, and nail polish
Without weave and makeup wouldn't I be abolished ?
Abolished from what exactly ? Society you see
They don't want to see an unfiltered me.
I'm at the bare minimum. But can I take off my skin ?
No this is the one I get stereotyped in
See even when I'm naked I'm still not good enough for what society wants.
But I'm still going to walk around and taunt
Because I am a strong beautiful black woman Just trying to go to school
"Mama didn't raise no fool"
Now you are at the edge of our seat
This is what's real . This is the naked me by Bri
