The Naked Truth
Who am I with no filter?
That is a strange question to ask.
Answering this prompt could be very a tedious task.
At the beginning it was hard.
I did not know.
But now that I've started the words begin to flow,
I am unique.
I am me.
I am anything in this mysterious world that I want to be.
I am funny.
I am smart.
I have survived more than a few broken hearts,
But that is life.
It has all been done before.
The real naked truth is who I am behind closed doors.
I am scared and confused.
I worry and debate my choices.
I am clouded and disoriented, influenced by all these voices.
I live my life the best I can.
I live and laugh and love.
I do all of these things for the man watching me from above.
I respect my elders.
I think for myself.
When I have problems I look to that old dusty book on my shelf.
I have grown into a young man.
I am a child no more.
Sooner or later I will be walking out my front door.
I have had fun and learned a lot.
I have gotten what I can out of my youth.
These times are coming to an end now, this is me, and that is the naked truth.
