The Name: A Revision

4

The Name: A revision

Olufunmilayo, the Joy God had given me has now been stripped away.

Aye ti le.

Something that has never left my side.

Something so precious that was gifted has now lost its meaning.

And it is not that God took it from me but rather that life did

Within a blink of an eye.

Aye ti le.

Feeling as though I no longer know who I am.

Feeling as if I one more heartbreaking event

should take place then I’d be lost.

Wondering if she committed an awful sin to have her Joy stolen.

Wondering when my name will be mine again.

O da toripe mo mo pe oluwa lo ni mi.

Oruko mi ni Olufunmilayo ati

pe mo tun mu aye pada

Translations:

Aye ti le= life is hard

O da toripe mo mo pe oluwa lo ni mi= its ok because I know that God has me

Oruko mi ni Olufunmilayo ati pe mo tun mu aye pada= my name is Olufunmilayo and  I am taking life back
