Naming My Scars

One on my left hip
I named her First
I felt like I was going to burst
with the weight of the things you told me
I felt like you had sold me
to the pain of the Damned
across one of my fingers
I can’t wear a ring
without admitting my past
that I felt so
Trapped
across my stomach
(and back)
my entire world was turning back
to the days when nothing made sense
on my wrists I tried to make Sense
my mind was a Blur
of silver on my arm
my heart was a Mess
on my right hip now
hundreds on my thighs that screamed Fat Cow
I was Lost
they joined First on the left
I felt like I had No Space Left
on my upper arms
and my hips were now
Full
there didn’t seem to be any space at all
and then there is Love
I don’t think I have any room left for it.
