Natural Affinity
Souls are purely made of
one energy
Earth, Air, Fire, or Water
There may be
billions of souls
made from these energy sources
but they are
never
the same
I remember the first time
I saw you
The sunlight was reflecting off your big brown eyes
I saw the gold rays
I saw the fire
I saw the darkness
Suddenly
I felt a natural affinity
between us
My soul jumped with excitement
You were so intriguing
You were a concept that I
needed
to understand
The stars say fire and water could
never
go
together
As water I would
kill your flame, drown it out
until heat can
no longer exist
I would drain the life
out of you,
making you feel so numb
to the point where
you no longer know what
existence is
Being the gullible, passive person I am
I have always believed
in the stars
until now
I am so determined
to prove the stars
wrong
They are wrong
They are
so
wrong
I want the stars to understand
How a love like ours
is
so precious
so lucky
so special
so genuine
As water I can put you to ease
when you burn out of control
I can calm you down
I can make you feel deeply
I would never let you drown
but bring you
to the surface for air
to breathe
and
grow
As fire
you ignite me
You fill my cold crevices
with warmth and comfort
You build this fire in me
to make me grow
To be confident
To be bold
To be courageous
You wouldn't know
how to feel
And I wouldn't know
how to live
Without one another, we wouldn't know what true love is
As opposite energies
we are vital
for one another’s growth,
having the capability of transforming into
better versions of ourselves
