Natural Disaster
I’m over you.
At least I have that much now.
But now I’m angry,
And now you’re mad at me too.
Now there’s too many rumors to keep track of,
Whether they were started by you,
By me, or anyone else that knew us.
There’s rumors about the arguments we had,
About everything that was said and done between us.
I never thought that I would be the girl to fall for one like you.
Who broke my heart for reasons I don’t understand.
Who never liked holding my hand.
Who made me cry even when we were together.
Who although I loved him, he would only sever.
But I fell.
I fell so hard and for those six months
I thought that you would always hold me up.
But you let me go.
I hit the floor and right as I touched that cold, dark ground,
Something set off, an earthquake struck that everyone felt.
Everyone lost their usual place so they wondered and then took sides.
And then started the rumors.
Those rumors were the tsunami that follows after the earthquake.
And there was so much water in that damn tsunami.
It was full of tears and anger and unwanted words.
So now I’m standing here,
Drowning in the tsunami that we caused.
Not knowing how to stop it because although I’m strong
I can’t hold back a natural disaster.
I can’t stop it from coming and crashing down no matter how hard I try.
So I sat down.
I wrote out my own words hoping they would help drain other’s.
But then I decided to share those words with you.
Yet another mistake to add on to the many I made with you.
I confronted you just eight days after that earthquake.
I asked you one question, just one question
That I knew once I was told the answer I would be over you.
But then you asked for my reasoning behind the question.
Of course I told you, of course.
One more mistake on the records.
That caused the aftershock.
I’m wondering if this will ever end.
I need it to end.
