Natural Selection.

A guy told me about a boy who read that a woodpecker's tongue was so long that it began at the nostril, wound all around the skull to the mouth. So odd was this that he lost faith in evolution as the fundamental reality and terribly annoyed his teacher. The problem was that unlike the perfection of the bird, he was not kind enough, generous, enough, forgiving enough, gentle enough or self-controlled enough. He was neither here nor there.
