The Nature of God
I asked the sky why evil things happen
It gave no reply, but the silence did not sadden.
Because
Answers do not come from the sky
It is just a place for our minds to fly
Without reply
Nature is a mixture of kingdoms
We belong to them all
In our hearts is a sacred duty
Which sings god's loudest call
The Lord gave us time to
sit and contemplate
Making us students and teachers of our own fate.
Evil acts without thought
It carries no care
Our very wondering why
Proves goodness is still here
Bad things do happen
But with them comes grace
A power keeping us steady
In our God given place.
If goodness is near,
evil can not stay.
To love and to smile
Is to keep evil at bay.
Again
I asked the sky why evil things happen
It gave no reply
And the silence still
Did not sadden.
