nature in its body

i have no mouth and i must scream

my body is flaking away with each withering seam

as i am carried away by these swift arms of the desert into the everlasting horizon

at the edge of this earth

i can fall

i can tumble

timidly arise only to fall again

and again

hopeless as my muscles relax

fearful as the pain settles in

a newfound vice: comfort

it sinks and it stays

it smells and it hurts

but i'll keep it with me

maybe it will help me make the noises i can't articulate.
