Naughty By Nature

What is Human Nature? It is the way we act, the way we live and the way we respond but how can I live humanely with all of this corruption in my mind? Sometimes I wish I can go back and re-live the good times. Sometimes we’re reminiscent of the times of living in innocence. But those days are over. Now I’ve grown up. Now I live in a world where human nature isn’t peaceful anymore. Now human nature is based on how we feel, how we touch, how we love, how we lust and then we ask is it enough... I mean can we love in trust and not just live in lust and not make a fuss about what we do, what we’re used to? And we ask again, what is human nature? Human nature is best defined when our souls are intertwined with the earth... it is connected like the cord of a mother and child after giving birth, it is connected like the Ben Franklin that makes travel between Philly and Jersey work, It is the pain that makes our heads stomachs and hearts hurt. We live in a world where husbands cheat on their wives, where your friends are the same person as your enemy in disguise, where a girl gets pregnant but stands alone without a man by her side, where a black man has filled more jail cells than classrooms, where people struggle to get a job selling vacuums, where it’s easier to empty out the clip of a 9 than to make sure your child has a clean behind. In this world your status is determined on your money stacks and body counts but truthfully no one knows what it’s about. And yet and still we ask ourselves, what is human nature.
