Necessity

In a world of chains, poetry is freedom-

No standards, no requirements, no errors.

No one can sing my song but me,

for we are all completely unique.

For this reason, I need poetry.

Not because it is a medium through which

I can hide from life,

but because it is a medium through which

I can express my life-

Express it in weaving patterns of words

and symbols and colors and style-

In a way that is uniquely mine.

Yes. Your poetry is yours and yours alone; nobody else can ever claim ownership or your story!
