A Needing Love of Simplicity

He reminded

Me of home. Not the home I had, or the

Home I know I knew

But the home I wanted to build.

When I looked at him I didn’t see

His pale skin or slightly awkward demeanor.

I saw his heart, his humility, his honesty, his honour

I saw integrity. I saw a person

I could make a life with, who could be my partner.

A person I could shoot the shit with

Or have deep theoretical conversations with.

Don’t get me wrong,

He definitely has his imperfections.

We will likely fight over everything. In fact,

At some point, the fact that I am not

What his others expect, the incontrovertible

Truth that he is not what my others expect

Will present its own issues in time

BUT, I would join him in his simple life

In living in a modest home with 2.5 kids

Educating them on how to be productive

Members of society

On how to have integrity

On how to treat others

On how to treat ourselves

To say that I could love him

Would be insufficient

To the nature of what we could share

b/c it would transcend love or attraction

it would be a deep gnawing need

That need only be meet with complete satisfaction
