Negative I Squared Plus Positive Him Cubed

I am a woman of numbers

Equations, exponents, and functions

He is a man of words

Commas, sentences, and quotes

I can tell you what x equals

X equals two people

To the power of love

Put that in a fraction over our differences

And you end up with us

The commas are the pauses that we create for ourselves

Since we are both afraid of commitment

The sentences are the beautiful part of our relationship

Sometimes left incomplete; fragments

I can remember all the words of my favorite authors

Yet when I am with her,

the only thing I can think of are the ones she creates

Stare-crossed lovers, negative logarithms

The grammar is incorrect, the numbers don't add up

But yet

We can not explain love through words or numbers

No equations can solve for the way he makes me feel

And no words can do justice to the beauty her face holds
