Neptune's Toll

Neptune was the sole suzerain of the seas

boats would either be aided by his fresh sea breeze

or destroyed by tides at his call.

In the ocean, he was above all.

But Neptune sensed shift in his power

mortals since ceased to cower

they had invented autonomous machines

they had become industrailized by all means.

The mortals shook bikini atoll

and shortly after it made landfall.

They had harnessed the power of the deity

Neptune since then felt his fealty.

Neptune now wastes away unable to control his oceans

his will was unequal to the mortal devotions

they had a thirst for power and greed

that Neptune could not believe.

Neptune's oceans were out of control

it took a might strain on his soul

they rised, they expaned, they shook the Earth,

they shook the Earth for all that it's worth.

Neptune now wastes away on a meaningless throne

the mortal's influence was now full-blown.

He wastes away with nothing but regret

no matter what, he seems to be unable to forget.
