Nerd Is The Word
Amanda Madrigal
Nerd is the Word
Nerd is the word,
What you see is not what you get,
We are prejudged as most are before we have even met.
When you see us nerds,
You think you know exactly who we are,
But what you see and the truth,
Couldn’t be farther apart.
You see us spending countless hours studying for our tests,
Constantly competing against others to be the best.
But how do you think we stay so composed?
We’re the ones who smoke weed the most!
Nerds smoking weed?
You tell yourself that can’t be right.
Well let me tell you something,
We are not that uptight.
That so-called nerd you see in class that looks incredibly tired and jaded,
I’m going to be honest,
They’re probably just faded.
So you hear our nerdy talk,
And see our geeky walk,
You’re damn right we love to play chess and watch Star Wars,
And yes,
We kept track of the Harry Potter Quidditch scores.
We place a strong emphasis on books,
Which apparently correlates with our looks.
You are then unable to move past these nerdy traits,
Which sucks because you’ll never see us as potential dates.
You see we understand that you don’t fall in love with someone’s personality at first sight,
But who wants to talk to bimbo barbie,
When you can talk to someone with insight?
So check out our glasses and grades,
You’ll notice our A’s.
An A you ask?
How did you do it? Tell me the ways.
Well I can make bull shit sound good any day.
Because of these facts,
You are filled with the notion,
That we are incapable of any kind of devotion.
They’re just nerds,
And have no experience in life,
And don’t know what to do.
Let me assure you,
That is completely untrue.
We don’t mind being the y-axis and you can be x,
Because we’d love to see what happens when our lines intersect.
So the next time you wonder and reflect,
Just remember it’s always the ones you’d least expect.
Well unfortunately I must say that being a nerd doesn’t have all the perks,
Since we are constantly ridiculed and insulted by all the jerks,
Who point, laugh, and stare,
And really just don’t care.
But you know what?
I’ve accepted this and it’s okay,
Just remember, we’ll be your boss one day.
