Network of Shadows
Network of Shadows
The sun glares down on the pavement
Causing an elaborate network of shadows
To dance across the ground.
Grotesque replicas-twisted and bent
Mem’ries-shadows in life seen through shaded windows.
A twisted vine of nothing hangs
Down and steps into the dark, unbound
As darkness is created by its presence.
Unrav’ling, it twists in spir’ling tendrils
And grasps out- engulfing at its touch, while
Mimicking surrounding fellows in its form.
Every time the sun shines a shadow dies.
It melts, a shapeless heap, a skeletal ruin
Fading as quickly as another is born
Contorting into shapes and sizes, standing out
While blending in.
