Never Alone

If I were alone

On an island far from home.

What would I want to have with me?

What would I want, where the birds fly free?

A journal, a person, a photo at which to look?

All good ideas, but in reality, a book.

A very specific book that I hold close to my heart,

For that book symbolizes everything for which I will never depart?

A book that tells tales of glory and pain,

Creation, destruction, and rebuilding again.

Stories of courage and the power of God,

Where the devil has been de-clawed.

No matter if I am alone,

With my bible anywhere is now home.

With that foundation to anchor my life.

With God by my side, I will weather all strife.
