Never Alone

Growing up with only one face to recognize

Worried at a young age that ends won’t meet

Only my mother, who cares so deeply about me

Will do anything to see me smile

She worked hard to give me the best life possible

Without expressing her fear of falling under

Life without a father; growing up with only one face to recognize

Wondering why I never had a father

Was it me or was it him?

My mother is my life

The reason I smile day to day

She gives me courage and confidence

The reason I want to make great choices

Growing up without a father; only one face to recognize

I’ve come to realize

That God chose me to face this battle

I was strong enough to fight

I grew up with an angel

That loves me for me

A shadow of my mother; I’m me.

I would like to dedicate this poem to my mother because she has been there for me throughout my whole life.  She is the best role model I could ever ask for and she is my best friend.
