Never to Be

         You and I were never to be.
You were you,
And I was me
But you and I couldn't be.
Although, I forever hoped we,

Destiny wasn't going with me.

Without you, I felt as if I was lost at sea.

I was losing leaves of my tree;

I was dying slowly without thee

Every day I would hope to have you with me;
That day never came.
It was then that it came to me,
Our love wasn't meant to be.

And yet, my heart never set you free.
