Never Broken
Not all scars show
Not all pain reaches the surface for you to mock
Not all love is shown through kisses
And not all people listen to the voices
Of those dying on the inside
Not always do they care
Many do not take the chance to step away and face their shame
Take a picture of that frame
I have my head held high
As I lick my wounds
And reach for the sky
Let my body die from the inside-out
I will still scream and shout:
“Sticks and stones may break my bones but words will never hurt me!”
So throw hard stones
And beat with iron sticks
May the bruises never make it to the surface
And the tears never bleed from my eyes
When my body is a bloody mess
On home I will crawl
Into bed and not even wake you
But when you smell coffee in the morning
Know that my love is forever burning
