Never Did I Think

Never did I think,

that I would become too depressed to drink.

All those nights I lay in bed,

with dark thoughts filling my head.

I never thought anyone would save me,

from this void that I feared would take me.

I was drowning,

while everyone was smiling.

Then along came you.

Although, I couldn't believe that it was true.

All those things you whispered in my ear,

oh, how I would sneer.

For nobody had ever said that I was perfect, beautiful or smart,

you made me feel like a work of art.

When you hugged me, I felt all of the pieces in my heart

go back together after being apart.

I will never know how to thank you.

For making me see the world completely new.

No more darkness, tears, or dehydration.

For our love could build a nation.

Thank you for being the rock that I so needed,

Because everything hurtful has faded.
